A New Year Question from Rob Rufus

Just a short post for me today (I know ... unusual!) because I have been at the hospice from 09:00 till 21:00. But I think it's important. I am transcribing Rob's awesome sermon; "Invading the Impossible" and he asked this:

"The question is - okay Rob, how then do I live my life more concious of who God is than who I am? What is the answer to that? Well I have by trial and error and then revelation, I believe, gained insight into the answer for that".

The answer?

BELIEVE THAT YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE GIFT OF GOD's RIGHTEOUSNESS BECAUSE THOSE WHO TRULY BELIEVE THAT THROUGH REVELATION ARE NOT FOCUSSED ON THEIR SHORTCOMINGS AND SINS AND FAILURES AND MISTAKES - BUT ARE FOCUSSED ON GRACE AND WHEN YOU ARE FOCUSSED ON GRACE, YOU ARE FOCUSSED ON SEEING THE MANIFESTATION OF GOD'S GLORY AND GOD'S PRESENCE QUALIFIES YOU TO DO THE IMPOSSIBLE.

The full sermon to come here ...

Hey Dan,

I have a random question..feel free to email me your response instead of posting here when you have the time (janelle@joshmp.com.)

What made you choose pediatric nursing?

Hi Janelle,

A good question. I didn't actually chose nursing - I rather think God more shoved me into it! The small town I grew up in and did my initial schooling in didn't have any jobs available. I was initially looking at banking and retail. The only job I could get was as a cleaner in a hospital. That's where I got my love of nursing and decided to go to university.

I was half way through the four year degree and did a couple of placements on some paediatric wards and just LOVED learning about how amazing children are when they are ill. They were so brave! And so resilient! And I just knew even though it is really hard in some circumstances, that I HAD to be a paediatric nurse!

So I started off working for a year on a paediatric ward, then moved to work on ICU for 5 years - which was really hard. And then I moved to my current job which is in a paediatric hospice. I still remain amazed at the strength of children to cope with illness!

I hope that helps a bit to answer your question, feel free to come back with anymore.

Wow, pediatric hospice. I don't know if I could ever do that Dan. That's just great that you love it so much! I still don't know what field of nursing I want to do, so I talk to as many as I can and see why they chose what they did...and why they love it so much! Thanks for doing what you do and for answering my question!
