Together For the Gospel Begins To Blog.

All who have been praying for C J Mahaney to start writing something a little more regularly on the blog stage have had their prayers answered. The four organisers of "Together for the Gospel" have begun a site! It's quite a tightly run ship - no comments are allowed apart from those by the four men. Should be interesting to follow - even for those who aren't intending to go to the conference.

Blah. What's the point in running a blog if you don't allow comments and discussion?

You have to read what the blog is set up for: "an ongoing public conversation between Mark Dever, Ligon Duncan, C.J. Mahaney, and Albert Mohler".

Kinda like a debate. And we're the audience.

Hmm ... whats the fun in that!?

...we get to discuss them on our blogs...

and discuss them we will! ;) I can't wait - i think it's going to be a conference that has tremendous impact. And no that wasn't a prophecy ...

I told you - my New Years Resolution is to only speak evil of something or someone if there is good cause.

But what I wait to hear is "WHAT" gospel? We bandy the word "gospel" or "cross" around quite freely - but what does it mean? Is it ever defined?

Thats a good and valid question. The best book I've read on actually defining the gospel is John Piper's; "God is the gospel". Here's a review with some quotes:

Thanks for that link - sounds a great book. A must-have.

Why do they joke so much?

Well actually with all fairness to Mark Dever, I thought he wrote a good post:

The best line was: "Could these small things we write really be that important?".

There is a serious temptation in blogging (which Bob Kauflin picked up on ... gosh its my day of being nice to these chaps isnt it) about the temptation to write purely for the amount of comments generated.

It's a point worth pondering.

Are you sure you wouldnt want to go to the conference?

Dan Bowen said...

Quite sure. The content mildly interests me but doesnt justify the flight. And there are some people who will be there, that I shouldnt be in the same room as. Otherwise I might try out my "calling down fire from heaven" gift. lol

Well I dont know if you are a continuationist as you are "anonymous" - but I suggest you ask for the gift of prophecy and work it out for yourself. ;)
