Fan into Flame a Passion for Your Name!

This is just going to be a short Sunday reflection based on a song that I have been listening to from the superb "Calling All Nations Live" cd. The song is called "Consuming Fire" by Tim Hughes. It goes like this:

I loved the holy dissatisfaction with the status quo of evangelicalism - "There must be more than this". It strikes against so much of what Dr Lloyd-Jones called "smug evangelicalism". But I noted and loved more than anything the link between the outpoured Holy Spirit in baptism and revival that comes for the purpose of spreading the Gospel more efficiently than anyone can. He comes that we might go!

I've been meditating on some verses from the Message Bible that really emphasise this link between anointing and mission - between Word and Spirit.

Isaiah 42:1-2: "Take a good look at my servant. I'm backing him to the hilt.He's the one I chose, and I couldn't be more pleased with him.I've bathed him with my Spirit, my life. He'll set everything right among the nations".

Revelation 15:4 (NASB) "For all the Nations will come and worship before You".

Micah 4:2-4: "But when all is said and done, God's Temple on the mountain, firmly fixed, will dominate all mountains, towering above surrounding hills. People will stream to it and many nations set out for it, saying, "Come, let's climb God's mountain. Let's go to the Temple of Jacob's God. He will teach us how to live. We'll know how to live God's way."

Let's enter this week fervently aware that the best Evangelist is the Holy Spirit Himself therefore we would do well to seek Him to fill us to overflowing with His power and anointing! And let's make sure that we are booked in to "Together on a Mission 2007"!
