Some Tweets to Follow!!

I don't often comment on Twitter on the blog to be honest - but since getting a new iPhone I've had the facility to follow tweets and re-post some of the best. It is a useful tool - I do love quotes when they are perceptive and prophetic. I hate quoting "for the sake of it" - I find that as pointless as it is annoying. But today was a particularly incredible day for some tweets and quotes - particularly from Rick Warren who said today;

"Every single drop of blood that fell from Jesus' body on the Cross shouted "I love you! I love you! I love you THIS much!".

And;

"No one counterfeits $3 bills since they don’t exist. Phony miracles,churches & believers indicate the genuine is out there".

John Lanferman who leads the Newfrontiers team in the USA also said quite profoundly;

"The Gospel without power is not good news at all".

Finally Twitter is a good way of keeping abreast of news not just reading great quotes. Dave Taylor - one of my sister's pastors from Christchurch in Newport (Sovereign Grace) - has gone to plant a church in Sydney in Australia (wow I'd like to be called there!) and has a great looking website;

I don't know Dave at all but people speak very highly of him as being an incredible worship leader as well as truly and highly valuing the gospel of grace.

So all in all a good "Twitter" day!

Geeeky!!

A definition:

"A tag cloud or label cloud for blogger is a list of all the labels used within a blogger blog displayed with style".

I'm rather proud of myself. I've wanted to install a "label cloud" on the "Grace and Glory Blank Bible" and the "Pentecostal/Charismatic Post-it Notes" since I set them up but have never really been able to understand the concept of it. Tonight I managed it! A new day indeed!

I am hoping that they will be a useful tool for both sites in accessing the quotes on the "Pentecostal/Charismatic Post-it Notes" blog and the Scriptural references on the "Blank Bible" blog. Let me know thoughts positive or negative!

Dr Lloyd-Jones on Word and Spirit

A telling reminder from Dr Martyn Lloyd-Jones in these days of obsession with intellectual doctrine and theology;

"These two; "the Holy Spirit"; "the Word of God". We must never seperate them and if we ever do we shall go astray. Some people put their emphasis only on the word. These are the intellectuals. "Ah" they say, "nothing matters but the ties on theology and doctrine". As a result they may become proud of their own great knowledge. They may get the admiration of others who join in with them, but this is nothing but a little mutual admiration society. Nobody is converted, nobody is convicted. Heads packed with knowledge and understanding - useless! "Word only" you see".

Why settle for one or the other when we can have both? Or more appropriately SHOULD have both?

Pentecostal/Charismatic Post-it Notes Hits 1,000 Quotes!!

For those of you unaware, a group of us run a blog of quotes called; "Pentecostal/Charismatic Post-it Notes" and it's aim was to draw together quotes about all theological issues but mainly those concerning Pentecostal/Charismatic issues. I wanted it to be a forum so that anyone with an interest in these sorts of theological topics could use the labels and search to their hearts content. One of the key quotes I read and was given by Dr Stanley Jebb that prompted me to try and gather these altogether was by C H Spurgeon and he said;

"The man who never reads will never be read. He who never quotes will never be quoted. He who will not use the thoughts of other men's brains proves that he has no brains of his own ... You need to read".

I know that traditionally Pentecostal/Charismatics are not renowned for being theological with a passion to "search the Scriptures daily and see if these things are so" - in this blog I wanted to change that perception.

I noticed the other day that it has just had it's 1, 000 quote added! Ironically the 1, 000th quote was by John MacArthur.

There are many other issues and authors that are worth reading about all added by my group of friends. Jesse's quotes are here. Scott's quotes are here. Julie's quotes are here and Pete's quotes are here (oh and my quotes are here!). What else may interest?

Rob Rufus's quotes are here.

Ern Baxter's quotes are here.

"Together on a Mission 2007" are here.

Baptism in the Holy Spirit quotes are here.

Ephesians 4 Ministries quotes are here.

Hope to carry on adding quotes as they arise through reading!! And trust it proves of interest!!

Pentecostal/Charismatic Quotes!!

I have just managed to collect 500 quotes on the "Pentecostal/Charismatic Post-it Notes" blog with help from my dear friends Jesse, Julie, Pete and Scott! Reading through some of them reminded me of what a marvellous resource quotes are. C H Spurgeon called quotes - "Smooth Stones Gathered from Ancient Brooks". They can illustrate and impact truth in ways that longer passages can't always do. Here is a few categories of quotes that have been gathered so far. We intend to go on adding to the blog as possible.

I hope that they prove of help and encouragement and motivation! As C H Spurgeon said;

"The man who never reads will never be read. He who never quotes will never be quoted. He who will not use the thoughts of other men's brains proves that he has no brains of his own ... You need to read"
