"The Kingdom of God ONLY becomes reality through the Holy Spirit".

Remember that quote and series by Ern Baxter? The original article can be found here and here. But I have been reading Gordon Fee's, "Paul, the Spirit and the People of God" again. What an eminently quotable book! Here is a quote that would support Ern Baxter's assertation on the Holy Spirit to the hilt.

"If the church is going to be effective in our postmodern world, we need to stop paying mere lip service to the Spirit and to recapture Paul's perspective; the Spirit as the experienced, empowering return of God's own Personal Presence in and among us, who enables us to live as a radically eschatological people in the present world while we await the consumation ... for him (Paul) the Presence of the Spirit, as an experienced and living reality was the crucial matter for Christian life from beginning to end".

Wow.

I am half way through it actually and enjoying it immensely! There seems to me to be a lot of books around on the Church but very few seem to deal with the Ephesians 2:20 concept that we are being built together as a dwelling place for God - in the Spirit.
